Striking right down the middle of the uncanny valley, this leaked image of the brand new Sonic the Hedgehog has fans running for the hills of Green Hill Zone.
The live action Sonic the Hedgehog film is set to release in late 2019. Sonic will be voiced by Ben Schwartz, known for his performance on Parks and Rec. Schwartz will have the honor of voicing Nintendo’s mascot that has now been likened to a “mascot for a disease in a pharmaceutical ad.”

“Is this a Sonic movie?” he asked in a tweet, going on to criticize the design. Some fans highlighted just how terrible this is by effortlessly putting together their own improved versions.

Returning to the classic Sonic look, despite the long legs, has much better results. The new Sonic looks wrong, and the leaked pictures resemble a video game character rendered using 1990s technology. Do you like this new Sonic?
